Little Miss Sunshine Movie Preview

September 29th 2006 06:22
Little Miss Sunshine is a comedy-drama film directed by the husband-wife team of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. The film has had high praise and acclaim, including winning the Best Feature - World Cinema Audience Award at the 2006 Sydney Film Festival, and even a standing ovation at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. It will be released on the 12th of October in Australia.

The Hoover family treks from Albuquerque to the Little Miss Sunshine pageant in Redondo Beach, California, to fulfill the deepest wish of 7-year-old Olive, an ordinary little girl with big dreams. Along the way the family must deal with crushed dreams, heartbreaks, and a broken-down VW bus, leading up to the surreal Little Miss Sunshine competition itself. On their travels through this bizarre landscape, the Hoovers learn to trust and support each other along the path of life, no matter what the challenge.

Below are a couple of trailers for the movie.

All the girls in the beauty pageant, except Abigail Breslin, were veterans of real beauty pageants. They looked the same and performed the same acts as they had in their real-life pageants.

Inside the convenience store, the price of Frank's slurpee and the porno magazines came to a total of $19.79. Directors Jonathon Dayton and Valerie Faris had previously directed the "1979" music video by The Smashing Pumpkins.

Five identical Volkswagen Type 2s were used during filming.

No filming was done in New Mexico; the Albuquerque scenes were actually shot in southern California.

The Covenant Preview

September 26th 2006 07:03
In 1692, in the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts, five families with untold power formed a covenant of silence. One family, lusting for more, was banished; their bloodline disappearing without a trace--until now. This thriller tells the story of the Sons of Ipswich, four young students at the elite Spencer Academy who are bound by their sacred ancestry. As descendants of the original families who settled in Ipswich Colony in the 1600's, the boys have all been born with special powers. When the body of a dead student is discovered after a party, secrets begin to unravel which threaten to break the covenant of silence that has protected their families for hundreds of years.

The "Sons of Ipswitch" have inherited their powers through their respective family bloodlines. These powers allow the young men to do literally whatever they want. The powers, however, are addictive; if the men use them excessively, they will become greatly weakened and aged. Too much abuse of power could even be fatal to the young men. There were five family bloodlines, and a "Fifth Son of Ipswich" surfaces to destroy the other four and steal their powers for himself.

Nacho Libre Trailer

September 7th 2006 07:39
Nacho (Jack Black) is a holy man without skills. After growing up as an orphan in a Mexican monastery, he is now a grown man and the monastery’s cook, but doesn’t fit in and is often looked down upon. Nacho cares deeply for the orphans he feeds, but his food is terrible – mostly, if you ask him, a result of his terrible ingredients. He realizes that he must hatch a plan to make money to buy better food for “the young orphans, who have nothing” (…and if in doing so Nacho can impress the lovely Sister Encarnación, that would be a big plus). When Nacho is struck by the idea to earn money as a Lucha Libre wrestler, he finds that he has a natural, raw talent for wrestling. As he teams with his rail-thin, unconventional partner, Esqueleto (the Skeleton), Nacho feels for the first time in his life that he has something to fight for and a place where he belongs. As Lucha is strictly forbidden by the church elders at the monastery, Nacho is forced to lead a double life. Disguised by a sky blue mask, Nacho conceals his true identity as he takes on Mexico’s most famous wrestlers and takes on a comedic quest to make life a little sweeter at the orphanage. It will be released on the 14th of September in Australia.
