A Good Year is a 2006 film directed by Ridley Scott. It is the feature film adaptation on Peter Mayle's international bestseller of the same name. It stars Russell Crowe, Albert Finney, Abbie Cornish and Marion Cotillard. It was shot in Provence, France. Critics believe that the combination of Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe may bring another academy award. It will be released on November the 9th and 10th in Australia and the US respectively.
Max Skinner, a British investment expert portrayed by Russell Crowe, inherits a vineyard from his deceased uncle (portrayed by Albert Finney). He goes to Provence to sell it, but finds it increasingly difficult to do so, because the happiest memories of his life happened at the vineyard. However, on arriving there, he meets a Californian woman, Christie, who may be his cousin and thus have a claim to ownership of the property.
