The Marine Movie Trailer

September 4th 2006 04:13
The Marine is a 2006 film directed by John Bonito, and starring professional wrestler John Cena. It is being produced by WWE Films and will be released by 20th Century Fox on October 13, 2006. The filming was done in Queensland, Australia.

John Triton (Cena) is a heroic Marine who returns home after being discharged against his will from the Iraq War. Stateside, he finds himself back in action, when his wife Kate (Kelly Carlson) is kidnapped by a murderous gang led by the merciless Rome (Robert Patrick). With everything on the line, the Marine will stop at nothing to carry out his toughest and most important mission.

It will be released on October 13, 2006.

Interesting Facts:
Stone Cold Steve Austin wanted to play the main role of this film. Supposedly not getting the role was one of the reasons he walked away from WWE in 2004.

The film was originally planned for a January or February 2006 release, then moved to Spring 2006 and then to September 8, 2006 which they changed because The Rock's newest movie comes out a week before. Finally it has been set on the date of October 13th.

John Cena was absent from WWE programming for a period of time to film this movie. In order to not break storyline, the reason for his absence given on WWE programming was that he was stabbed in a bar fight. Cena went as far as to claim the incident as 'real' on various radio stations.

Cena has taken to using the American Military salute during his more recent appearances in the WWE.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

August 16th 2006 08:10
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) originated in an American comic book published by Mirage Studios in 1984.
In 1987, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' first cartoon series began, which ran all the way to 1996. In the series the TMNT were four wise-cracking, pizza-obsessed superheroes who fight the forces of evil from their sewer hideout.

For those who don't know or remember, the four Turtles and their friends are:

Leonardo - The de facto leader of the Turtles, Leonardo is courageous, decisive, and a disciplined student of martial arts. As a strict adherent to Bushido, he has a very strong sense of honor and justice. He wears a blue mask and wields a pair of katana. He is named after Leonardo da Vinci.
Raphael - The team "anti-hero", Raphael has an aggressive nature and seldom hesitates to throw the first punch. His personality can be alternately fierce, sarcastic, and full of angst. He wears a red mask and wields a pair of sai. He is named after Raphael Sanzio.
Michelangelo - The easy-going and free-spirited Michelangelo provides much of the comic relief. While he loves to read comics and eat pizza, this Turtle also has an adventurous side. He wears an orange mask and wields the nunchaku. He is named after Michelangelo Buonarroti.
Donatello - The brilliant scientist, inventor, and technology geek, Donatello has a reputation as something of a smart aleck. He is perhaps the most non-violent Turtle, preferring to use his intellect to solve conflicts. He wears a purple mask and wields the bo. He is named after Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi.
Splinter - The Turtles' sensei and adoptive father, Splinter is a mutant rat who learned the ways of ninjitsu from his own master, Hamato Yoshi. Splinter's name is a reference to Stick, the man who mentored Daredevil.
April O'Neil - Originally a lab assistant to Baxter Stockman, April is the plucky human companion of the Turtles. She embarks on many of the Turtles' adventures and aids them by doing the work that the Turtles cannot do in public. In the original series she was a reporter.
Casey Jones - A masked vigilante and friend of Raphael's who fell in with the group during their initial run from New York. Afterward, he became just another member of the family.

During the running of the first cartoon series, three TMNT movies were released, the last one being in 1993.

In 2003, the TMNT were revived with a new animated series. This new series deviates from the 1987 - 1996 animated series significantly. Gone are a foolish Shredder and his inept mutant/alien associates Bebop and Rocksteady. Shredder is much more menacing and threatening than his previous cartoon incarnation. The four Turtles also have somewhat different personalities from the 1987 cartoon, reflecting the more sombre mood of the 2003 cartoon.

In March next year, the fourth TMNT film will be released. This film will be entirely created by CGI, and will be the first TMNT film in 14 years. It is believed that this film will follow the 2nd movie. After the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder, the Turtles have grown apart as a family. Struggling to keep them together, their rat sensei, Master Splinter, becomes worried when strange things begin to brew in New York City. Tech-industrialist Max Winters is amassing an army of ancient monsters, apparently to take over the world. Leonardo has been traveling the world for the last year, honing his skills. While away, the other turtles are barred from leaving the lair by their Master Splinter, who wishes to keep the family together. However, Raphael has been scouring the streets at night, and Michelangelo has taken a job as an entertainer at children's parties. It's not clear at this stage what else the film will hold, however April O'Neil and Casey Jones will be in it. The teaser trailer is below.

August 1st 2006 05:45
Miami Vice was a popular television series (five seasons on NBC from 1984-1989) with James "Sonny" Crockett and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs as two Miami police detectives working undercover.
The 2006 film of the same name stars Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell as Tubbs and Crockett. Director Michael Mann set out to craft entirely new characters and story, however there are still very subtle references to the television show in the movie. It was shot on location in the Caribbean and South Florida, and lost seven days of filming to Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.
The plot sees Tubbs and Crocket working undercover transporting drug loads into South Florida to identify a group responsible for three murders. Then the situation gets unexpectedly intense when Tubbs becomes romantically involved with a wife of an arms and drugs trafficker.
