Marley & Me

November 5th 2008 01:26
Marley and Me. Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson

Marley & Me is a comedy film starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson. It is based on the book of the same name by John Grogan which tells of his family's real life experiences with their Labrador Retriever.

Marley is a highly strung, boisterous, and somewhat uncontrolled dog. He is strong, powerful, endlessly hungry, eager to be active, and often (unintentionally) destructive of property. He routinely fails to "get the idea" of what humans expect of him. His acts and behaviours are forgiven, however, since it is clear that he has a heart of gold. The family often referred to him as the "world's worst dog", yet through him they discovered the key to happiness.
Marley & Me will be released in the USA on Christmas Day. The Australian release date in New Years Day. See the trailer below:

Dean Spanley

Dean Spanley Movie

Dean Spanley is a comedy film starring Sam Neill as the Dean, Jeremy Northam and Peter O'Toole as Fisk Junior and Fisk Senior, and Bryan Brown as Wrather. It will be released in Australia on Boxing Day.

In the very early 1900's, Fisk Junior lives beholden to a difficult Fisk Senior. One day, trying to entertain his father, Fisk Junior brings him to a lecture by a visiting swami, about the transmigration of souls, and then, and later the same day, the son sees the new local clergyman, Dean Spanley. He arranges for an introduction, and is intrigued by the Dean's oddly open-minded views on reincarnation, and, getting beyond the appearance of an affable, rather bland clergyman, by his weakness for certain peculiar sensations, produced by Hungarian Imperial Tokay wine, which leads him into a dreamlike state. Working with his clever friend Wrather, the young Fisk secures a large batch of fine Tokay, and the two entertain the Dean, who acts ever more strangely, starting to reveal memories of his previous life – as a dog. These memories are acute and convincing, including the rich feelings around food and communication with other canines, a deep distaste for cats and pigs, and the joy of serving his master. As the story unfolds, Fisk Junior comes to understand his father's background better, and the two draw closer.
