Despicable Me is an upcoming computer-animated 3-D feature film starring Steve Carell, Miranda Cosgrove, Jason Segel, Russell Brand and Julie Andrews.
In a happy suburban neighbourhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbours, hidden deep beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by an army of tireless, little yellow minions, we discover Gru (Steve Carell), the former #1 supervillain, whose evil attempts are always thwarted by Vector (Jason Segel), a super smart teenage nerd, who is now #1, Vector has Armies of giant faceless eyed Robots. To outdo him, Gru is planning the biggest heist in the history of the world- steal the moon.
Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls, Margo, Edith and Agnes, (Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, and Elsie Fisher), who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. As Gru starts to father the three, he starts to realize that just because he acts like a bad guy that doesn't mean he is a bad guy.
Despicable Me will be released in the USA on July 9th, 2010. The Australian release date is September 9th. Watch the trailer here.
