The Women

The Women is 2008 American comedy film written and directed by Diane English. It is an updated adaptation of the 1939 George Cukor film of the same name, which was based on the 1936 play by Clare Boothe Luce. In the original film, most of the characters were Manhattan socialites whose primary interest was idle gossip. In the 2008 version, several are working in the fields of fashion design and publishing, and the character of Alex Fisher is openly lesbian.

The central character is clothing designer Mary Haines, who lives in a beautiful country home with her wealthy financier husband and their 11-year-old daughter. Her best friend Sylvia Fowler is the editor of a prominent fashion magazine, a woman who dictates the latest in taste and style for New York City fashionistas. When Mary's husband becomes involved with Crystal Allen, a perfume salesgirl in Saks Fifth Avenue, her friendship with Sylvia is put to the test. Everyone in their close-knit circle of friends, including mother Edie Cohen and author Alex Fisher, begins to question their loyalty to each other and their romantic involvements.

Married Life is drama film directed by Ira Sachs. The film is based on the 1953 John Bingham pulp mystery novel, Five Roundabouts to Heaven. The cast includes Chris Cooper, Pierce Brosnan, Patricia Clarkson and Rachel McAdams. The story is set in an unnamed Pacific Coast city in 1949. It will be released in Australia on July 24th.

Australia is an upcoming period epic film directed by Baz Luhrmann. Written by Luhrmann and screenwriter Stuart Beattie with Ronald Harwood, Australia stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. The story takes place during the bombing of Darwin in Australia during World War II. Production will take place in Sydney, Darwin, Kununurra, and Bowen in Australia. The Bucket List is an American film directed by Rob Reiner and starring Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman, Sean Hayes, Beverly Todd, and Rob Morrow. The story follows two terminally ill men (Nicholson and Freeman) on a road trip with a wish list of things to do before they die. Freeman's real son Alfonso Freeman plays Freeman's son. Nicholson's head was shaved on film, which explains his bald appearance at the 79th Academy Awards on February 25, 2007.
