The Happening is a 2008 American film written, co-produced and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It stars Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel. Production began in August 2007 in Philadelphia. The Happening will be released on Friday, June 13, 2008, deliberately planned to fall on Friday the 13th.

A big city family goes on the run from an airborne virus that makes people kill themselves. Trying to escape the plague, they travel by car to rural areas believing they’ll be safe there.

M. Night Shymalan is one of the few writer/directors out there who gets me really excited at the thought of a new release - that sounds rude and it isn't meant to be. I'm not sure how hard I could concentrate with Mark Whalberg as a teacher though...

Holy Cow! I have been seeing the poster for this film at our local theater, and I was wondering what it was all about. Now, after seeing the trailer, I totally have to see it.
