Underdog

August 3rd 2007 15:18
Underdog is a film slated for release on August 3, 2007 featuring the super-powered cartoon character of the same name. The Australian release date is August 20th. The UK release date is January 18th, 2008. Several other characters share names with characters from the cartoon, though it is unclear whether other similarities exist. It is produced by Spyglass Entertainment and Classic Media and will be distributed theatrically in the United States by Walt Disney Pictures. The titular dog will be played by a real dog with computer-generated imagery (CGI) enhancements. The movie started filming in Providence, Rhode Island in March of 2006. This film is specifically based on comic book number 18 of the Underdog comics.

A laboratory accident gives an ordinary beagle named Shoeshine Boy (voiced by Jason Lee) unparalleled superpowers, including the ability to speak with a human voice. He is soon befriended and adopted by a lonely 12-year-old boy named Jack (Alex Neuberger). The two develop an even greater bond when the boy learns of the dog’s incredible powers and secret identity as the crime-fighting pooch named Underdog. Dressed in his very own superhero outfit, Underdog flies over Capitol City, protecting its citizens from unforeseen tragedies and keeping a close eye in particular on a beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named “Sweet” Polly Purebred (voiced by Amy Adams). When the dastardly, mad scientist named Simon Barsinister (Peter Dinklage) and his overgrown henchman Cad (Patrick Warburton) threaten to destroy the city, Underdog, truly “man’s best friend,” may be the citizens’ only hope.

There is a post-credits scene, with following during the end credits and after the end credits.

Ratatouille

July 2nd 2007 10:00
Ratatouille is the eighth animated feature film produced by Pixar. It tells the story of Remy (voiced by Patton Oswalt), a rat living in Paris who wants to be a chef. The film is directed by Brad Bird, who took over around the time Jan Pinkava left Pixar. It was released on June 29, 2007 in the United States. The Australian release date is August 30 while in the UK it's October 5th.

A rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. When fate places Remy in the sewers of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau.
Despite the apparent dangers of being an unlikely - and certainly unwanted - visitor in the kitchen of a fine French restaurant, Remy's passion for cooking soon sets into motion a hilarious and exciting rat race that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down.

Below is the trailer and then featurette for Ratatouille.
