The Last King of Scotland Movie Trailer

August 30th 2006 07:53
The Last King of Scotland is a UK film based on Giles Foden's award-winning novel of the same name. The film is based on the events of the brutal Ugandan dictator Idi Amin's regime as seen by his personal physician Dr. Nicholas Garrigan during the 1970s. Idi Amin is believed to be responsible for the torture and murder of 300,000 to 500,000 Ugandans during his presidency from 1971-1979.

Forest Whitaker stars as Idi Amin, and James McAvoy as Dr. Nicholas Garrigan. Gillian Anderson plays an Israeli physician Sara Zach, with whom Garrigan first works in Uganda; Kerry Washington one of Amin's wives, and Simon McBurney and English diplomat. Whitaker is tipped for an academy award nomination for his performance.

It is scheduled for limited release in the USA on September 27, 2006, with UK release set for January 12, 2007, and Australia on November 2, 2006.

This film looks like a powder keg. Should be captivating.

I mentioned this film the other day,I reviewed Director Kevin MacDonalds award winning documentaries One Day In September and Touching The Void. and told the gang to look out for it.
