Nowhere Boy is an upcoming film about John Lennon's childhood and adolescence and the feature film directorial debut of director Sam Taylor-Wood.
The film, which is based on the book Imagine This: Growing Up With My Brother John Lennon by Lennon's half sister Julia Baird, is about Lennon's teenage years and his first steps to stardom and will focus on the influence his Aunt Mimi and his mother Julia had on his early life, and his friendship with future fellow Beatle Paul McCartney. It has been confirmed that British actor Aaron Johnson will play Lennon and that Thomas Sangster will play Paul McCartney. Kristin Scott Thomas will play Lennon's aunt Mimi and Anne-Marie Duff will play Lennon's mother Julia.
Thomas Sangster is able to play the guitar, but since he is right-handed, he is learning how to play the guitar like the left-handed McCartney for scenes in which Lennon and McCartney are forming the skiffle band The Quarrymen, which was later renamed The Beatles. Meanwhile producers are negotiating with Yoko Ono for the right to use some of Lennon's songs in the film.
Nowhere Boy will be released on Boxing Day in the UK and Australia. View the trailer below:
