The Dark Knight Movie Trailer
September 20th 2006 06:39
The Dark Knight will be the 2008 sequel to 2005's Batman Begins, which rebooted the Batman franchise after an eight-year hiatus. Christopher Nolan, director of Batman Begins, continues as the director of the sequel, and the screenplay is being written by Nolan's brother, Jonathan.
The Dark Knight has a tentative release date of June 2008. The Dark Knight will be the first live-action Batman film to not actually have the word "Batman" in its title.
Screenwriter David S. Goyer said that in this film Batman (Christian Bale) enlists the aid of Police Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) and Harvey Dent (a.k.a. Two Face) in bringing down the Joker (Heath Ledger)... but not killing him. In the third movie, the Joker would go on trial, scarring Dent in the process. Christopher Nolan said that The Dark Knight's Joker will not be like the character that Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson have portrayed.
It is believed Philip Seymour Hoffman was offered a role in the film, possibly as The Penguin, however, nothing is confirmed at this stage.
There are a few teaser trailers around for the film, some fan made and some claiming to be official, a selection of these are below. The more official looking ones are first.

Watch these movies if you want to know more...
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Sound familiar??? Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson played Batman and The Joker, not some recreation.
Micheal Keaton and Danny DeVito played Batman and The Penguin. Again, not some younger, better version.
And it gets better - Val Kilmer, Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carey played Batman, Two-Face (Harvey Dent) and The Riddler.
Let these men be who they have forever been branded as - the kick @ss villians from the ORIGINAL Batmans!!

None of the original movies held true to the comic book. Sure Michael Keaton played batman very well and Nicholson was a pretty good Joker, but his younger version of the character did not kill Bruce's parents. He did not die either. The original sequels were more of a joke as they evolved into a cartoonish live action.
The New Batman hits the nail on the head. Much more entertaining and follows the comics much better. It is also more realistic and feasable in concepts than the originals.
Actors are grown ups. They'll learn to adapt.
As for me, I am looking forward to the new versions.

I love the new series of movies as it's much more realistic and more tuned in with the comic books.
I'm looking forward to seeing Clint Eastwood in "The Dark Knight Returns" !
