Daybreakers

Daybreakers Film

Starring Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, Sam Neill, Vince Colosimo, Jay Laga'aia, Claudia Karvan, Isabel Lucas, Daybreakers puts to rest the idea that Vampire films have gone soft since the release of Twilight.

In 2019, a plague has transformed much of the world's population into vampires. With the human population headed for extinction, the vampires must farm the surviving humans for their blood. However, demand for human blood is now far out-weighing supply. When deprived of blood for extended periods of time, vampires devolve into winged bat-like monsters called "sub-siders." The chief supplier of blood for the American population is the pharmaceutical company Bromley Marks, which is headed by Charles Bromley (Sam Neill). Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke) is a haematologist employed by Bromley Marks.

A covert group of humans discover a cure to vampirism. After being saved by Edward, Audrey (Claudia Karvan) - the group's leader - brings him in on the secret. One of the group, Elvis (Willem Dafoe), is a human who was cured of being a vampire.

The Road

February 1st 2010 20:25
The Road Movie Poster

The Road follows an unnamed father and son journeying together toward the sea across a post-apocalyptic landscape, some years after a great, unexplained cataclysm has destroyed civilization and almost all life on Earth. The setting is extremely bleak: the sun is obscured by a layer of ash so thick that the pair must breathe through masks, and plants do not grow. The surviving remnants of humanity have been largely reduced to thoughtless violence and cannibalism. Realizing that they will not survive another winter in their present location, the father leads them through this desolate landscape towards the sea, sustained by a vague hope of finding other "good people" like them.

The Road stars Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Robert Duvall. It will be released in Australia on January 28th, 2010. View the trailer below:
